Well it’s Christmas. I hope you guys had a good one??!!
Christmas Eve I went to Aaron’s parent’s house on the North Shore. Its HUGE its only one floor but it’s a Big ol Bungalow. It would take and age to find something that you didn’t know which room you put it in! Any way we had a lunch meal, not just any typical meal. Well for the starter we had Large Prawns and salad all served up in posh little dishes, followed up by oysters (they taste very much like the bottom of the sea if you were wondering, sand and all!) For the main we had ham (the really big ones on the bone, that won’t fit in the oven) Chicken, veggies Not a Sprout in sight!!! Kumrara <like a sweet potato crossed with a squash. Pumpkin and of course, good old roast potatoes. Very tasty it did call for seconds! Then pudding well the Christmas pud it tastes nothing like ours its much much tastier and whit it vanilla and strawberry sauce ice cream. U got it Simon it deserved seconds too!
I got to meet a whole load of new people which was good all of whom were extremely nice.
Christmas day I spent travelling to and at Kirsty’s parents house, I had a couple of drinks there (tradition according to Bruce Kirsty’s dad) feeling a bit tipsy before we left for her cousins house I think, something like that anyway. Another huge house, we sat outside on the porch with all her family and a cooler full of drinks, Tui being the most tolerable! It was really strange have having the Christmas in shorts sandals and a t-shirt, the weather was good really warm. We played a game that seems like a cross between rounder’s cricket and baseball. Of course many English jibes arrived mostly referring to poor batting in cricket, but I did prove that not all English people can’t hit a ball. Hahah dinner was much the same but even more summery with trout and all!!
The festivities carried on till about 11ish when everything began to wind down for bed.
Over all nothing was like home except the presents and tree. I think I like Christmas in the sun, certainly beats the pants off the rain!
