Waited ages for the awesome foursome this morning sat on a curb outside the pier we arrived at. A road was blocked on the way down apparently but I think it's their rubbish map skills personally haha! They only went another 10km passed us to Haad Rin, we thought they arrived at the same pier as us but they didn't. Took ages to get through to them, my phone bill is going to a minging price this month!
We decided to go on without them and got them to meet us at zip wiring.
Finally got there up in the hills, we were the only customers there which was nice; it was an old shack with quirky garden furniture and a fish spa built in the decking, I plucked the courage up to put my feet in, there was a goldfish nibbling at me and guppies! Not your average day fish spa in Britain! They a da field day on my feet and Scott's, they didn't want to know Ross! Run by a couple of French people, it was overlooking the sea and was most definitely a sun trap!
We decided to start without them, and just as we got harnessed up and ready to take our first zip wire, they arrived! They looked like they were on Safari with dad stood up in the boot overlooking them! They have another excuse of the van not going very fast and not being able to take it out of 1st gear going up hills haha; and their handbrake doesn't work!
Anyways uncle Terry got pushed to pluck up the courage to do the zip wiring with us and dad, FairPlay they both done really well considering they hate heights and uncle Terry screamed and swore a lot going around the course! Haha.
It was a mixture of zip wires, wooden rickety bridges, right ropes and hop along wooden stubs. The highest point we were at was 22metres! That was hell of a long way down! Scott done well, as I found out he hates heights haha.
Our guide was like a little jungle boy with blonde curly hair with the odd dread lock in his hair, he made it look so easy, just flying around backwards and upside down, lying out flat and swinging about! Then jungle jane came along with dreadlocks in, guiding Terry and dad!
We were allowed to go around on our own once we had done it once which was a little over trustworthy of him I must say, but our faults if we die because we signed our life's away on the policy!
After an hour or so and a few more goes on the zip wiring acting like we were professionals, we headed down to the road to Baan Tai's elephant park, they only had three elephants, maybe a family because the one was only a baby. They were on a short chain to palm trees and the two older ones looked mentally ill, they were away from back n forth and bobbing their heads. We all just stood for a while and watched, didn't know what to think of it. First initial reaction was how cruel they were being treated and we were all a little iffy to whether we should give them money to have a ride on them, so we fed them bananas and they absolutely loved that. Then they were taken one by one to have a shower, where they were playing with the water which they loved and they were never poked or prodded with any sort of spikey rods which made us feel better; so we kind talked ourselves into going on them, so only the six of us went on.
It was actually really god going through the trails for half an hour, you wouldn't think they'd fit through the little trails with their huge feet! Mum looked terrified on the elephants, she wanted to go on a small one and ended up on the biggest one! Half way through our guides put me Ross and uncle Terry on the elephant's necks so we were kind of guiding them, they have really massive heads, I felt as though i was doing the splits! Definetly got spreethed on the inner thighs from this bad boy! It felt as though the elephant sort of knew when I was unbalanced because he'd push his ear into my leg and hold it there. Don't whether I'm talking right or talking through my bum. Haha!
Had some food on the beach at haad pan noi Yai beach, it was really cheap. The beach wasn't so clean, there was see weed and debris from the bad weather washing it up on the shore.
On the way back to the hotel over all the mountains Ross's exhaust was falling off on his moped so we pulled over and mum wanted to put it in the back of the jeep and Ross jump in with it, they can't fit four of them in there let alone an extra person and a moped and it definitely won't get up the hills then! Haha.
Dad jumped on the bike and Ross got in the jeep afterwards, we stopped a few times to try and find some string for dad to tie the exhaust up with because it was rattling off with only one screw in it.
Finally found some just by Scott spotting some old manly stuff on the road where we had stopped; so I run down to dad holding it out as though it has rabies or some sort.
Managed to string it up but it was still not sounding great, all the locals were slowing down pointing and laughing at dad, like yeah we love a bit of DIY, it's the best kind of medicine!
The awesome foursome came back down to our end this evening, strolled through the little night market by us and went in the English bar (harp bar) which was nice. Mum really not feeling good tonight, getting a little worried that this stomach bug isn't shifting :(
