Thankfully we both had. Good night sleep, Scott is feeling better aswell. He had had a cold sore trying to erupt on his lip for the last couple of days but he has been taking some tablets he bought from India for cold sores and it's worked. I had a peaceful night sleep aswell so we got up in our own time, grabbed a noodle pot for breakfast at the 7/11 opposite and headed to the train station to go to Batu Caves.
The train pulled up smack bang outside the caves. It's kind of random because it's this huge limestone mountain amongst a flat area with houses and buildings everywhere. We walked through the street stalls, full of India aroma! We were in heaven, we both reminisced of India for that split second! We just looked at each other and smiled. Oh how we miss that country!!
The limestone is pretty, it has water spring which they have made full use of, building a little big pond with fish and a sort of maze. We side tracked and went straight to the entrance... It was free! Woohoo! The highest temple in cave in the world! At 278 steps to the entrance and too many monkeys trying to steal your belongs we made it! It's pretty picturesque! That photo you always see and want to be in.. We were there!
They just don't tell you about the sweat that pours off you from zig zagging and running away from the monkeys (UP STEEP STAIRS!)
It wasn't so special once we got up there. There were roosters and pigeons not scaring the monkeys away and barriers pulled up for religious ceremonies. This temple wS from was I gathered a Hindu temple. Lots of Hindus walking the stairs blessing their babies.
We walked through yes a messy cave but once you looked above your head you realised it was pretty special. We both love caves, their so pretty and they are millions of years old! It takes millions of years to form stalactites and mites! It's incredible.
We pondered a little at the bottom of another flight of steps, wondering whether to go up there or not. How we would get up there if we did. There were monkeys everywhere, in a small confined area and I am petrified of them and their rabies.
We practically ran up the steps in and out of people so that if the monkeys did decide to take come at someone it was at someone else. If people weren't so stupid and didn't feed them we would have this problem!! But they do. Stupid silly people!
After the cave we went half way down and sidetracked to the dark cave, it's the home to the rarest spider in the world - the trap door spider, the cave is over 100million years old and the most researched tropical cave in the world.
It's pretty spectacular so we figured let's take the educational tour through it! It was good. Dark. But good!
We seen slides and bats flying about, we weren't allowed to shine our torch because the bats are protected and would move elsewhere if everyone shone their torches into their nests all the time, just listening to them was cool!
we had to wear hard hats because their is a snake in the cave that climbs the walls and when a bat flies out it will jump on it and squish it, using it as a shield for when it falls on the floor. Don't want that tangled in my hair thank you very much! And obviously the poo from the bats, that wouldn't be a great experience in the hair!
the cave was huge, the your was fun and we enjoyed ourself!
The tour guide found a baby fruit bay on the floor one month ago, she had broken her wing so they took her to the vets and she had to have it amputated. The girl keeps her in a little cage and feeds her, looks after her really well. She said it's a miracle that the bay has lasted this long because they have found bats in the passed and they haven't lasted any longer than one week. She is a cute little thing though, and tame! The girl can stroke the bat and she rolls around in her hand enjoying it. It's cute!
We headed back late afternoon for a much needed cold shower and grabbed a bite to eat.
Tonight we headed to the Petronas towers to see them out up at night! As we walked up the stairs onto the street for
The subway we were thinking that we were a few streets away from them, but then we looked up and realised we were right underneath them! They looked so pretty at night! The lights and mirrored glass made them look spectacular! We just stood there for a while and stated in awe. We had accruals reached the point in our trip that we were seeing the Petronas towers! This was a distance memory not so long ago. How fast have these give months gone! Wow.
We soaked it up and took a few selfies, we went inside expecting to just see a reception and offices, much to our surprise we walked into another huge shopping mall! Only this one was a little more up market with Chanel and Dior, Gucci and Rolex. We were totally out of place but it was okay as there were so many people in the same boat as us, walking around catching flies whilst staring at all the gorgeous shops.
After a good nose, mainly at the electronics and the BUTT MASSAGER! We headed back and found some street food for a late well deserved dinner, only downside was that it cost more than two meals at McDonald's! Actually it cost £7 more than two McDonald's meals! How bizarre. Surely it should be the other way around!?
