We had a good nights sleep last night considering we only had a fan. At one point I was cold so I had to get the throw off the line and use it as a blanket. I couldn't wake up this morning though, I was shattered! Scott got up early and walked down the beach to try and connect to some wifi to find the scores out of the match but he had no luck. Just as he came back the heavens opened for about 15 minutes, you would think that it would cool the place down a little but but there was no chance of that happening!
We went and got some breakfast once I dragged myself out of bed, I had been bitten all over last night even with the mosquito net down, maybe it didn't help much due to the holes and scags in it so they were able to get through the net!
I finally found some museli for breakfast! Oh boy have I been dying for this for a long time! Fruit and fresh yoghurt and museli! Yum-my!
We were shack for our day trip at 10.30, a group of boys to the absolute mic getting there. Once they finally turned up at 11am they started putting suntan lotion on and trying life jackets on, not forget the odd selfie.
We did get on the boat until 11.30, when they did jump on the boat they nearly capsized it! (Enough said...)
Me and Scott got the best seats at the back of the boat. I'm getting used to these speed boats they're pretty cool!
Our first stop was turtle point, this bit is supposed to be the best part to find turtles because they eat the algae on the sea bottom.
The water was awesome, straight in we couldn't really see much because the water was so deep, you could make the shapes of them out but not great. Our driver got in, he was like a merman! He went straight down to the bottom and was down there for nearly two minutes I would say... How I don't know! The depth was about 8-10 metres. I managed to get half way and I got some pretty good views of them there. There were quite a few just having a munch!
The next point was just around the corner, in the middle of where all the little speedboats were going back and forth, he said not to go far from the boat because of this reason but as Scott has impeccable selective hearing he swam about 300-400 metres away from the boat!
He did get some good footage of the turtles, but I seen some whoppers by the boat, the water was a lot shallower here so you didn't really need to go to the bottom to see them, you could see all their markings pretty clearly! They're so beautiful, I love their spotty find and heads!
Third stop was fish point, beautiful coral and some cracking species of fish there! I don't know what they're all called but they're pretty! And there was a lot of them! And I found nemo so no need to panic he's fine.
Those little stripey ones that were nibbling on Scott in Phi Phi appeared, as soon as the boat pulls up or you get in the water they want to be inside your mask with you, and they follow you! I had my own little posey with me! Few tinkers trying to nibble my legs, they found the dry skin! Wouldn't have minded if they weren't sharp stingy bites!
The part I wasn't so sure on next... Shark point.
Not quite sure how excited I was about getting in here. I still found myself sticking my flippers and snorkel on and jumping in mind! What the heck was it doing!? The driver came in with us, only two of the boys got in out of about 11 of them, they couldn't swim very well either to be honest, floating around in life jackets.
Casually swimming along, the coral was even better here! If anyone was listening to me on the surface they would think if lost my marbles, I kept talking out loud to myself and making noises pike 'ooo, ahhh! Oh look!' No one knew what I was on about haha!
Scott swam off trying to follow a big ass parrot fish and got scared in his tracks by a shark slyly swimming on the bottom of the water! Flapping about like a looney bless him, nearly had a heart attack I think!
The shark came back to show off again, this time I seen him! He was about 4 metres long. A black tip shark so he didn't want to eat me! Trust me he would have had a clump around the head with the go pro if he did, and I'm sure my posey of fish would have helped!
Scott jumped out after he seen this one because his mask was hurting, adrenaline was kicking in now so I followed our merman to find some more, we seen another two but the one swam directly underneath me and had a rounded nose not a pointy one, and he was a bit bigger than the others we had seen. It was difficult to get good footage because as soon as they new you were on they tail they sped off.
We were both super happy now, turtles and sharks in one morning! Awesome snorkelling trip!
It seemed as though our boat was about to sink, it had taken on a lot of water and drive looked a little worries so he tapped me on the shoulder and asked me to steer whilst he messed about with the engine and the plugs underneath the boat. Uhh yeah sure! The steering wheel was light and it was pretty difficult! They make it look easy! Scott wanted to take over and he found it difficult aswell. You can't turn the steering wheel to fast because you'd capsize the boat!
We grabbed some food at the little village on on of the islands, sat next to the boys that were on our boat. They are all studying in Kuala Lumpur but all from different countries in the Middle East, Yemen, Sudan, Somali, Qatar, Saudi. They were a nice bunch of boys actually. They told us some tips for Kuala Lumpur on where to go and what to do.
Our last stop if the day was coral garden and a chill on the deserted turtle beach. (They lay their eggs here and on long beach in the monsoon season)
The snorkelling was even better here! We seen a purple and yellow stingray, this octopus fish that had a mouth like Bain on Batman returns. He wasn't scared! I got some good footage on him! Lots of clown fish, they're so intrigued by you, they come out and have a look what your doing or what you look like.
Some cracking angel and butterfly fish as well, that's the only ones I really know the name of! Haha. After a good 500 metre swim and searching for the water wildlife we got to the beach, Scott played fireball with the boys and then i joined in because they thought I would be the first one out... Proved them wrong! How sexist.
We got back to long beach, booked another night but in a different hotel, this time we paid a little extra for a sea view in D'Rock mountain hotel. We had had enough of Chempaka for two nights!
We got a smoothie each to try and swill the sand out of our mouths and went back to the room to shower the salt off.
After food we walked back to the room, I stubbed my toe on the metal poles sticking out of the ground that held the umbrellas up. I immediately cried like a big baby. Not sure Scott really knew what to do with me! When we got back and I washed the sand off, my toe was twice the size it should be, I had lifted the nail up on toe and it was bleeding. BOFF. It was absolutely killing!! :(
