Getting up at 3.45am was surprisingly easy, maybe because we hadn't had that much sleep so I wasn't in a real deep sleep?
Scott didn't find it very easy to get up but he never finds it easy to get up after 1 or 10 hours sleep!
We thought that that the funny house maid wouldn't be awake, but she was! Babbling on as if we understood her, bless she was still ironing! In the same place she had been all day and night yesterday! We waited outside for the taxi expecting it to be late, but he was 10 minutes early! We got to banana travel on love lane early so we waited inside for the bus at 5am. The guy in the agency wanted to keep talking to us, I know I felt alright getting up but it's still to early to function for me to have a normal conversation! Good job Scott managed to string a few words together other wise we would have looked like right miserable and rude pair of gits!
The bus arrived and much to our disbelief it was smack bang on time and the ten seater minivan only have 5 of us in it! We thought he was bound to stop and collect more people but we were wrong; we were on our way to Kuala Besut!
We have never been on such a bumpy minivan journey on what looked like well maintained tarmac'd dual carriage ways! I mean we were close to bumping our heads on the ceiling! It was awful! We were totally out of luck if we thought we were going to be getting any shut eye on this bus!!
Luckily after an hour of a bumpy ride and a stop at the service station it became a lot smoother, or so I thought! I managed to fall asleep before the bus started moving because I was so tired! On and off until we swooped buses at the last 5 miles of the journey. So I got a few good hours sleep in, Scott I don't think did as much as me though.
We arrived at the pier and went into the well sign posted tour agency, booked our bus to taman negara for an open date and jumped aboard a speedboat.. Yes a speedboat! How privileged are we! We usually get the wooden long tail boats with a car engine on the back!
We paid £2 for a three day visa to the island, the money is used to protect the marine life around the islands.
We were doing drop offs at the opposite island when the driver pointed out a turtle swimming in the surface coming up for air! Surely that's a good sign, the first thing we see is a turtle on the way there! The water was crystal blue, not like maya bay blue... Better! Paradise blue, lagoon blue; it's hard to describe! It's incredible!
There isn't pollution in the water and you can tell the area is well maintained!
There aren't the old petrol boats that ooze petrol and pollution into the water, every little speedboat is new and has Eco efficient boat engines.
Once we arrived at our postcard perfect beach we had to find accommodation, you can't book any in advance from what I could see on the Internet!
Only problem was that it was absolutely boiling and the minute we stepped of the jetty on to the beach the sweat immediately started dripping off us.
We went into the first place we thought looked pretty 'okay' it was alright, but not worth £18 per night!
We moved on and ended up going to chempaka bungalows, not great but only £12 a night and a little nicer than the ones we did go in, they have a balcony and an ensuite, we didn't have any electric until 6.30pm and that would last until 8am the next morning. So we had to use our head torches to go to the toilet and opened the door and window as much as we could, the only problem this would allow Mosquitos to freely wander in! The little sods. we redecorated the bathroom, the wall paper was called 'squished Mosquitos' if your lucky sometimes you got your blood splattered across the wall as well, that blood they just rudely sucked from you!
We both had a shower, you use natural hot water here. It's all heated by the sun! Luckily the showers we had weren't heated just yet, the cold water was welcoming!! Although we didn't dry once we got out we just sweat.. We have up and went to get some lunch and had a chill by the AMAZING sea! It literally looks like a painting! It's beautiful. Sorry I keep banging on about it but you guys seriously need to see some of this good water in real life! You thought the post cards look good with clear water... You aint seen nothing! We booked ourselves on for a snorkelling trip tomorrow, it goes to turtle and shark point. Fingers crossed we see something but we aren't getting our hopes up too high!
This evening we waited for the electric to come on before having a shower, wasn't feeling a pitch black shower!
As soon as the electric came on it was bliss! The fab started up and the breeze coming through the windows and doors became better! Ahhh, just having a fan isn't so bad after all!
We went for some food, we both tried a Malaysian curry. It was good! I braved a prawn curry, at the beginning of this trip you would have never caught me pulling heads and legs off prawns before eating them. I am getting so much better with my food, it's not just Scott that's experimenting with food in this trip! :)
After food we went and got a beer at Oh Lala, Scott was gutted that the island didn't own a tv and wifi was poor or shut down at midnight because it's another big game tonight with Chelsea.. Haha! Oh dear, I'm so sad for him..
