We started the day in Casablanca. We left in our minibus at 8am. It is quite cozy in our two seats. It was a long 3.5 hr drive to Volubilis.
Volubilis is a Roman ruin site. It is basically a whole city. It is as far south as the Roman’s got. It was very cool. There were amazing mosaic floors still in quite a few of the buildings. There was even huge stork nest with two storks on top of one of the columns.
We then went to lunch at a small village where the women cooked for us to earn money for training for the women of their village. The food was good it was served family style and the local oranges and olives we had were amazing.
We then drove the rest of the way to fez. Bear went foraging for art in the rain. While Trapper stayed warm in our beautiful suite we have for a hotel room. We have a living room that is bigger than the living room at our house. Our first hotel was dingy and was kind of what I expected from a moderately priced African hotel room.
We also went out for supper Trapper had chicken tangine with preserved lemons and olives. That was amazing according to both of us. I had couscous which was extremely good but was not nearly as good as trappers. We need to buy a morrocan cook book for home and a tangine.
We (mostly Trapper) has been hand washing our laundry and we have it hanging all over the living room in front of our heater. We are here for two nights so hopefully it will be dry by the time we need to go.
Anyway, we will be headed to bed soon and I have to ring some more laundry. Hope all is well with everyone at home.
