So today we left the toudra gorge at a reasonable hour and started driving towards Ait-Ben-Haddou. We stopped to check out several kashbas, Which are morrocan fortified houses. Most of the building were made of mud and straw bricks. We think that our hotels last night and tonight are made of the bricks as well. Though there is a part of me that wants to believe it is a fake treatment they have just applied to the walls.
Upon arriving in Ait-Ben-Haddou we walked the world heritage site that is a fortified town with a grainery at the top of the hill in the middle of the city. It is also where Lawrence of Arabia and gladiator movies were shot. It was quite beautiful.
Afterwards we came back to the hotel were we had a tangine cooking class. We are definitely buying a tangine when we get home. It’s pretty easy to cook with and it tastes excellent.
Tomorrow we will arrive in Marrakesh around noon and it is our last full day on the tour. There has been a lot of driving. I’ll be happy to stay in one place. But I will also be sad to see our group break up and the tour be over. I think Trapper feels the same way too.
