As we are on our last long bus ride of our tour (headed for Marekesh) I feel like I should write some of the themes.
It was much colder than the normal temperatures for Morocco. Days were probably below 10. The hotels had insufficient heating to keep up. We were very cold in our tent in the Sahara and most other nights we were just very cold getting into bed but once the blankets were warmed up we were cozy.
Hotels were inconsistent in providing hot water. Sometimes a certain room would have no hot water, sometimes the whole hotel only had warm water. Sometimes there were no issues. We were definitely roughing it through out on hotel room amenities but it was sufficient and once you figured out how to operate it was comfortable. Don’t get me wrong we were always searching for the room with the heater or sun or near the kitchen to get more heat but it was a matter of bringing us from sufficient heat to warm that we were in search of.
Also whenever we were getting ready to go someone would scream yella yella!!! It started as the guide by the end it was by times us yelling it at the guide and driver out the door. Or as an announcement that we had all assembled near the bus so let’s load in. It basically means “let’s go, let’s go”. It was often Manuela the single 40 something from Switzerland squealing it out.
There was also the 21 year old twins Zelda and Lara from South Africa constantly slow giggling and saying “ya” or “ja”. So much so that I picture a couple of cartoon animals just sitting starring at each other saying ya and giggling incessantly at each other without any end.
There were also two English sisters Carolyn and Susan that were quite nice and always in positive spirits that I greatly enjoyed.
The oldest of the group was a couple from Toronto. There was another Canadian but he hasn’t been living in Canada for some time now. He’s currently living in Prague. He is here with his Prague girlfriend. They are very quiet and take off on there own when they have the chance.
There was one lone mid twenties American guy from San Francisco. He was very nice and was very much into photography so we are hoping to all get access to his photos.
The last pair of our group was a mother daughter from Germany.
Overall our group meshed well together.
Anyway, we are stopping so yella yella!!!
