So now we know why the other group couldn’t get through the mountains. It is snowy and icy. The sanding crews are two guys in the back of a large truck of sand. They then use a spade to pick up a shovel full and throw it out the back of the truck every few feet as the truck slowly moves down the road.

We just arrived at a place where the road is closed. Our guide says we will wait 1-2 hours for the road to be open as the crews are working.

Oh we have just been told we have to turn around and take a longer route around as this one will be not in good enough condition for our bus. But apparently this smaller road we will be taking will be in good weather conditions but worse maintenance conditions.
