The Awesome Foursome
As nice as the little resort on the west coast was, it was too quiet for us and so this morning after breakfast we headed south-east to the backpacker hotspot; Haad rin.
Our journey to Haad Rin was quite an adventure, a truck-like taxi takes up and down steep hills - so we were clinging on for dear life!
When we arrived in Haad Rin we were dropped in a quiet street with a couple of restaurants and shops and not a lot else - not what we expected! We headed off to 'Tommys' a guesthouse recommended by our guide book, where we were shown an interesting room for us four to share for nearly twice what we normally pay, it was a shack with a tin roof, skanky toilet and no shower - we've never moved so quick whilst carrying our backpacks!
After looking at a few more places we settled on a couple of rooms further away from the beach - much more comfortable! After bartering for a cheaper price (we got it half the asking price! we unpacked and then headed to lunch in the restaurant we had seen; 'The Moon Dolphin'.
We decided to explore down a road to see if there was more to this place and to our relief we came across streets and streets of shops, restaurants and cafes - fantastic. so we looked around the shops this afternoon and had a bit of a mouch around.
This evening we headed to a restaurant called 'Greenpeace' for dinner and watched the match (Manu v Chelsea).
After dinner we discovered yet more streets of shops and restaurants (this place was growing every minute!) and whilst the boys watched more footie, the girls headed to a club on the beach called 'Cactus', great night all round!
