Today was our full day on Isabella Island. We began our tour at 8 and Andres took us to many places around the south of the Island. Last day of the cruise :(. We were up mega early at 5:30am and on an island walking round by 6am. We saw blue footed boobies and frigrate birds again, and although we have seen these a lot on our cruise, today we saw something special as the male frigate birds inflated their red necks and the blue footed boobies were carrying out courting displays. Having only travelled for an hour last night the boat was a lot calmer and we had our first good nights sleep. After breakfast we went on the dingy to a wet landing where we saw lava tunnels, this is where the lava on top cools and goes hard but inside it is still hot and flowing and so leaves a hollow tunnel. Today was a good food day. Pancakes for breakfast, tuna pasta for lunch and chicken and rice for dinner. Not to mention potatoes for snacks. Eddy was loving life. In the morning we went onto an island which is formed of lava rock where a volcano erupted 100 years ago. It was cool to see how the lava had solidfied in lots of different patterns but there are limits to which you can appreciate rocks after an hour. Today we went Genovesa Island, this was around an 11 hour boat ride from Pyerto Ayora which we did overnight. It was really rocky and I didn't get much sleep as I felt quite ill, but once we stopped moving it was a lot better! We had moored in a volcanic crater which had a small gap that had eroded away to get in, this was really cool.
