186 kms / 2 ¾ hrs
Derby - The Lake (Ellendale)
Today was a relax day with Roger washing the car and caravan and the kids going for a bike/scooter ride. We saw the white peacock again today but unfortunately it didn't have its feathers up. We also saw some of the parrots in the trees. We left the caravan park at 9:30am and did a quick shop at Woolworths and then drove the short 186 kms to The Lake (Ellendale) which is 95km W of Fitzroy Crossing.
It's a pretty place with a lake, lots of cows roaming around and calves feeding and a spoon billed bird busy catching food in the lake.
We had lunch and it was so hot (30 degrees) and lot's of flys so we had a craft afternoon in the caravan. The kids made puppets, foam necklaces and did some colouring-in (thanks CMJs it was a great present and the kids had so much fun and we still have so many more activities). We then sorted through all the shells and I threw out lots.
We went for a walk down to the lake and Josh went for a bike ride. There is another couple staying here so we chatted to them for a while. Then I cleaned the caravan.
We watched the sunset, which again was a beautiful red sun followed by blues and pink in the sky. We had a can of tinned tuna and a bowl of yoghurt for dinner tonight as it was so hot we didn't really feel like much.
Had another chat to the people staying here, then baths and quiet time.
Whilst I was typing on the computer tonight and reading I was being attacked by lots of flying bugs as I was the only one with a light on. They must have got through the fly screens as we had all the windows open as it was very hot (they weren't mossies just flying bugs)
