After a pleasurable and stress free journey from City airport we landed in Zurich and within less than 10 minutes we arrived at the Hauptbahnhof. Once we dropped our bags off at the lockers we did a small tour of this pretty and incredibly clean city. Later on we met up with Patrizia and Gundula and enjoyed several refreshing and well deserved G and T's on the balcony of Gundula's apartment. It was great to see them again and dissect the weekend prior that we shared in Tuscany. In the evening, Patrizia treated us to a tasty home cooked meal which was reminiscent of the wonderful fresh pasta we devoured in our Tuscan villa. We woke up to a beautiful and sunny morning and had brunch alfresco on the balcony. After a lazy and relaxed start to our day, we headed into town and took a boat tour on Lake Zurich. It was a calm, balmy day and the scenery of the snow covered mountains and surrounding green landscape was stunning. It was a perfect day to be on the water. We got off at one of the boat stops to enjoy a drink at a lake shore café and to sit back and take in the gorgeous views. Once back in the city, we went to Movenpick and made ourselves comfortable at one of the outside tables, whilst being served Pol Roger champagne from magnum bottles. Apparently, it is the Queens champagne of choice but I'm sure their Royal correspondent can verify this. If it is good enough for the Queen then it's definitely more than adequate enough for us. At CHF 35, enjoying champagne on tap was an absolute bargain. We certainly were ladies of leisure and judging from the insane amount of Maserati's, Porshe and Jaguars that drove past, we were clearly in the posh part of Zurich. It was great to be amongst friends and have a laugh. Even if our heads were in the clouds for a few hours, it was a lot fun to imagine being part of such a luxurious lifestyle. On our last day we had a lovely lunch at a great little Italian place and took a final walk around the old town before we said our goodbyes and made our way back to Blighty.
