Our weekend began at Paddington station where we met up with Emma, Jay, Suzanne and Sam. Laden with baggage and snacks we boarded the train for our girlie weekend away to celebrate Emma's birthday. The journey was a breeze and watching episodes of Miranda, not only passed the time quickly but also had us in fits of laughter. We arrived in Cardiff full of excitement for the weekend ahead and checked into our quirky boutique hotel. Once we freshened up, we headed into town and ventured into and old man's pub for a few drinks and a few games of pool. It was a bit of a giggle and a fun start to our little adventure. Later on we met up with Tracey and Asinetta and spent a couple of hours relaxing before toasting the night ahead with a celebratory glass of bubbly in Emma's suite. After a great meal at Zizzi's, we ended up in a dodgy bar that resembled someone's living room. It came equipped with a hideous couch and loads of saw dust on the floor, which soaked up the copious amounts of alcohol spillage. The clientele was rather questionable but nevertheless, we still had fun. Drinks in hand, we made our way to the sticky dance floor for a boogie. At least the music was good, but it wasn't enough to make us want to stay. It was like being at an under aged disco with your little brother. We left before the gyrating teeny boppers got out of hand and tried our luck at the more upmarket Revolutions bar. This would have been more our style, if only the DJ had better skills. At 2am we headed back to our hotel and said goodbye to Jay and Suzanne. Unfortunately, they had to catch an 8am train back to London so we left them to pack while we gratefully fell into bed. The next morning, we met up for breakfast and devoured a much needed fry-up. It was a beautiful sunny day, so we took to the streets for a dose of sight seeing. Our first stop was Cardiff castle, where we walked the grounds and delved into the tunnels, which took us back to a time when war prevailed and life seemed quite bleak. Once the culture box was ticked, we hopped on a boat for a pleasant trip to Cardiff Bay and had lunch at one of the many outside cafe's. It was such a glorious day and it was so nice to lounge around and have a laugh in great company. After a lengthy chill out session, we made ourselves presentable and had a fantastic meal at the restaurant in our hotel. Before heading out for another night on the tiles, we introduced Tracey and Asinetta to our much loved Lemon Drop tradition. On recommendation we went to the Cathedral Bar, which as the name indicates is in an old cathedral. It was a lovely location but unfortunately it was void of any party atmosphere, so we decided to go back to our hotel for a nightcap before bed. In the morning we made our way to the train station for the journey back to London. It was such a great weekend and a fun escape from the usual rat race. Can't wait for the next trip away. Bournemouth Oct here we come..
