I got a coach at 7am to Townsville and arrived there at 12pm. When I got off the coach I bumped into the Canadian caled Tom who was just leaving Magnetic Island. I'd emailed him the day previously about meeting up when we were in Cairns and he said that he'd messaged me back to say that the Monday night would be good to meet to do the BBQ at the hostel. I then went into the ferry terminal and waited for the ferry across to Magnetic Island. I saw a guy smiling at me and smiled back thinking he was cute and then realised it was the guy from the night before who Grace had introduced me to as he was going to the Full Moon Party too. I chatted to him and Brent and sat with them on the ferry. They were staying at Base hostel where the party was taking place whilst I was at Bungalow Bay so I said goodbye and said that I'd probably see them the next night at the party.
I got the bus to Horseshoe Bay where my hostel was. The hostel has a wildlife sanctuary and the dorms are individual bungalows. As I was feeling under the weather due to a cold I decided to just chill out and grabbed some food to make lunch and got chatting to a guy from England who seems to be on a mission to drink his way around Australia and cannot understand people who do not go for it drinking everynight - and we wonder why Brit's have a bad name!? I then headed to the beach which was completely deserted and had a snooze.
After my power nap I asked the hostel about the Forts walk that I'd read about and they gave me a map and said that it would take 45 mins each way so I should have just enough time to make it back before the sun went. The walk has ruins from WW2 with bunkers and old guns etc and you can apparently see koalas in the wild, but unfortunately I didn't see any. I headed back to the hostel for dinner and an early night as I'd booked horseriding for the next day and wanted to get as much sleep in as possible ready for the Full Moon Party.
