I woke up at 8:45am to get the bus back to Horseshoe Bay to get my stuff to check out and get the ferry back to Townsville to catch my bus. I got back and said goodbye to Mel and Rachel and arranged to see them on the Sunday when they got to Gilligans.
When I got to the ferry I saw Stu and Brent and we sat and chatted about the night and looked at photo's. We were all on the same coach so I sat next to Stu and Brent was on the seats next to us. Despite us only having a few hours sleep Stu and I spent most of the journey chatting. When we got to a place called Innisfail the coach started making strange noises and the driver said we weren't going anywhere. He had to call a mechanic who had to drive from Cairns an hour away to come and fix it. It was so frustrating as we just wanted to get to Cairns and I was annoyed as I'd previously booked the later coach but then changed it so that I could see the Irish girls as they were going to be at Gilligans that evening. To make the time go quicker Stu and the two Kat's from Magnetic Island who I had hung out with at the beach went to get an ice cream and sat in the park. Annoyingly we had broken down in the quietest town ever as everything was shut and there was no beach or anything. Eventually we were able to board the coach again and we arrived at 8pm in Cairns two hours late. As we walked towards the hostel the city reminded me of Singapore with its big hotels, neon lights and asian writing on some of the shops.
We'd asked for directions to the hostel and some locals said we'd hear it before we saw it, and they were right! When we got to the reception I saw the Irish girls Grace, June and Shelle and they came up to my room with me. There was a big night at the bar for Halloween so we all decided to go there despite feeling ready for bed. We met down in the bar for our free dinner which was a miniature portion of chips and the thinnest battered fish in the world, but I couldn't complain as it was free! After that it got really busy and tehre were so many people dressed up in some amazing costumes like Avators, trailor trash and men in nurses outfits. There was a man in his fifties on his own who was doing a good impression of Mr Bean dancing so he provided some good entertainment as he was really going for it! I danced with the Irish girls lots and then decided to head to bed at 1am
