I got up at 6:30am and decided to explore before I left Noosa. I walked up Hastings Street which has really trendy houses, including one that had water running down the lounge window to look like a waterfall. I then walked through the National Park which had really nice walks and a stunning view of the beach and mountains behind. I then did the coastal walk down to the beach which has crystalline sand. It was white and amazingly soft. I paddled and watched the surfers then wondered along the main shopping area which has stylish clothes shops, cafes and restaurants. It feels like a more upmarket version of Byron Bay and is so picturesque. It's a shame I can't stay for longer!
After a quick brekkie I caught my bus at 9:35am to go to Rainbow Beach for my Fraser Island trip. I arrived at 12:30pm and checked in to the hostel called Dingoes. After wondering to the shops - which didn't take long as it's not a very big place and there's not many of them - I got back to the room and some Irish girls and an English guy checked into the room so I chatted to them and shared stories as they're travelling down whilst I'm going up. At 3pm Orla (one of the Irish girls) and I went to the briefing for our trip as it turned out she's on the same trip as me. They played us a couple of video's telling us the do's and don't for Fraser Island (mostly don't's!!) and then they put us into our groups. I was put in a group of all British people: Alex and Andrew (21 and 23) who are a couple from Middlesborough, Chris (23) and from London, Orla (26) and Steph (24) and Scottish so I was the oldest but was determined to act the youngest;)! We chatted and arranged to meet at the bar at 6:30pm to grab a burger and drink deal for $10. A few of us headed to the supermarket to get some essential provisions of chocolate and crisps - the rest of the food is supplied - and made sure we put in our drink orders for the trip...5 boxes of goon, some beer and cider.
At dinner Michael, the English guy from our room, came and joined us for food too and we all got to know each other. There was a band on so we watched them play and the oldest three of the group (me, Orla and Michael) were the last ones to bed. One point to the oldies, nil to the young ones!
