I said my goodbyes to Catherine and then went to meet Gemma, Nasreen and Kristina outside Base hostel to get a bus to the north of the south island. We managed to get seats altogether and we had quite a long journey ahead of us to get to Mount Cook. We stopped off a couple of times to take photos of mount cook in the distance as it was such a beautiful clear day and we also got a good picture of the mirror lakes.
We arrived at Mt Cook at 1.30pm and the four of us set off for a walk. We selected one that would take 2 hours as we weren't feeling very energetic after only a few hours sleep. The hostel is right at the bottom of Mount Cook so we could easily get to the walking paths. We stopped off a couple of times for a rest and to sunbathe and admire the views then we made it up to one of the lookouts. It was amazing! We had got a beautiful day and the glaciers and mountains were beautiful. We spent quite a bit of time up there and then slowly made our way back down to our hostel that is in Mount Cook village itself so we had quite a view from our window!
As Nasreen had made a lovely roast dinner for me I decided to return the favour and cooked chilli con carne for the four of us. I'm never any good at working out portion size so we had quite the feast! After dinner we decided to take a break from big nights and went back to our room to chill. I caught up on my travel blog whilst listening to music whilst the other girls read their books. It was really nice to have a quiet night to try and recharge our batteries.
