After my epic sleep I decided to head to Auckland Museum which I'd heard was a must do.The museum is located in a really large and pretty park so I walked through past the winter gardens and duck pond on the way.The museum has three floors and there's an exhibition about the All Blacks which was really interesting as they had a film showing the haka. They have a lot of Maori art and displays about volcanoes and the world wards. The volcano section was really good as you went into a traditional kiwi home and they simulated what it would be like in a volcano by making the floor of the home move and the lights go off which was really effective.
After a few hours there I then headed to an area of Auckland called Newmarket which has really trendy shops and I browsed for a bit and then grabbed some things for lunch to have up Mount Eden.I then walked towards Mount Eden and did a hike up to get some amazing views of the city.I had a picnic whilst admiring the views.I then walked back to the city admiring the areas that I was seeing along the way.I found a shop that did really cheap internet so I spent some time in there and then had a phone call from Peggy asking if I wanted to meet to have dinner so I quickly went back to the hostel to get changed and went to meet her at the metro centre. We went to find a restaurant but the good seafood restaurants were a bit overpriced so we found a posh burger van which features in the Lonely Planet and has been around since the 80's and I ordered an amazing burger which had an egg in it.We went back to the apartment that she was staying in to have the burgers whilst drinking some red wine. The apartment is in a building which has a really posh hotel in it and is owned by her bosses sister and was a one bedroomed place with a balcony, sofa and TV with sky and a dining room table. It was really nice to just chill out and watch TV.When I went to go she gave me a bag of food goodies as she wouldn't be able to take them back to Australia with her so I walked back armed with nuts, avocados, rice cakes, rice, cheese and more.
