Day 11
Liskeard
Today we had a lovely day exploring the Cornish countryside. As it started off raining we decided to go and look at the Eden Project. It is a huge centre with gardens and controlled environments called biomes. There are two indoor biomes. One rainforest and the other Mediterranean. They were amazing. There are so many different types of plants and environments. It was a very worthwhile experience. There are a few photos of the plants and the biomes for you to look at. Look up their website if you want to know more. The entire site is a reclaimed china clay mine.
After leaving there the sun was out so we decided to head to the beach for lunch. It is still cold as the rain really drops the temperature. So we sat in the car overlooking Carlyon Bay which is quite spectacular from the carpark. Phil and I both had cornish pasties. Just keeping in with the local tradition. Maddy and Phil ventured onto the beach. There weren't many others around but Phil says the water wasn't too cold but the outside temp was not warm enough to swim.
We decided to venture down to Port Looe for dinner. Another quaint little village between the cliffs with a stunning river and quay. As if Phil didn't have enough narrow streets in Port Isaac he gives Port Looe a go. At least this time we don't get stuck but we still try to get through the tourists.
We decide on fish n chips for dinner and sit by the boats on the quay. It's the freshest fish we have had. Even I ate it and enjoyed it. We followed that up with Cornish icecream which was also delicious.
A fantastic finish to our time in the south.
Bath tomorrow.
