Day 7
Edinburgh
Well we have been away for a week now and still enjoying seeing so many new and extraordinary things. This morning we went to Edinburgh Castle. It is quite a huge structure that contains a village within its walls. We stayed for the 1pm firing of the cannon along with thousands of others. It has actually been the busiest plave we have visited yet.
There are lots of museums within the castle so lots to see. We went past the crown jewels and the actual crown. We went through the room where Mary Queen of Scots gave birth and also visited the military prison. Very busy and fascinating. As alot of it is outdoorsI think I even got a touch of sun. It is lovely in the sun but a bit chilly in the shadows.
After the castle, Maddy, Renee and I walked down the Royal Mile. It's the hub of tourist activity with lots of shops selling souvenirs and kilts. Maddy tried one on but it was too expensive. We will look for a cheaper one in Glasgow tomorrow.
We did buy some true scottish fudge which we are yet to try.
We met back up with Phil and decided to head out to Linlithgow to see the palace. This is the palace where Mary Queen of Scots was born.
We were shown around the palace by two girls aged 11 and 12. Their knowledge of the palace was exceptional and they spoke very well. Great Scottish accents. The palace is on a loch and in a very pretty setting.
Will send some photos soon.
After tea we are headed up to Carlton Hill for a walk. It is still very light and it's 8:20pm.
A great historical day. Off to Glasgow tomorrow.
