Day 9
Llangollen
I am sitting here in our first floor room looking out onto the Welsh countryside in the twilight. It's 9:45pm and the sky is still blue even though the sun has gone down. It's beautiful here amongst the hills of this quaint village. We arrived at 5pm and there were still hundreds of tourists lining the streets and tourist buses trying to leave through the narrow lanes. We walked down the main street and crossed over the river that is in rapids at this point. There is a steam train in the station and a short walk up the hill their are barges that are pulled by horses along the aqueduct. We are a bit disappointed that we are too late to have a ride.
This place is filled with charm and beauty.
We are staying at a hostel and everyone has been very friendly. This is our chance to cook something for tea instead of eat out and we enjoy just hanging around.
During our trip here from Glasgow we stopped off at the Lake district. Home to Beatrix Potter. This area is also filled with natural beauty with blue lakes and huge mountains that line them. It's a picture book experience. On the way over the winding pass between the two lakes the girls spot a hairy cow. These cows look like they have a long fringe and they are hairy all over. The girls are truly amazed.
Lunch at lake Windemere was hectic as this is a big tourist destination.
It's kind of nice to be in a smaller village tonight away from the busyness of the city and just enjoy the peace and quiet.
Well it is nearly 10pm and it is still not dark but I am tired and tomorrow we have to do our longest day of driving down to Cornwall.
Goodnight
God bless
