Hot, sweaty and drives are getting longer....
Karijini NP, gorge walks, rivers and plains. The rivers and waterfalls hidden away in the gorges are spectacular, clear and haven for wildlife, including large lizards, Goana's. The locals don't drive after dusk or before dawn if they can help it, to minise risk of striking cattle and wildlife, were doing the same. Flies are everywhere. Food in the van is pretty basic, omelettes, soups, tuna / cheese sarnies, mich always seems to have a secret stash of sweets just at the right time, normally when were starving or done a sweaty hike. Trying to keep the chilled tinnies topped up, good to sit out under the stars with a beer. Skies are so clear, seen a few shooting stars, bats are getting huge, as are the bugs
Broome was a good stock up point, waters, food and tinnies! Seems to be alot more Aboriginies as were getting further North, seen quite a few hammered around the towns. Did a few hours fishing in Broome, waters getting warmer, and the warnimg signs for crocs appearing, not seen any yet. The drive through the Kimberley, across the Northern Territory to Queensland will be an experience, weve been warned of most things that could occur by caring ozzies (just trying to s*** us up). Were into the start of the wet season, very hot with heavy downpours, that close roads across the North of Australia, an elderley gentleman gave us Pommes his years of local knowledge, including Cyclone stats and flood depths, think he was lonely. So far all signs show all roads into the out back open, no cyclones forecast, happy days!
