January 2013
So our new years was different to the usual happenings in the Reading area, fo starters it was stinking hot! It was the two of us as everyone had disappeared to Sydney or house sitting elsewhere, so we decided to go to the only casino in Perth. Crowne plaza in Burswood. We got the train there which isn't too far from the city centre, upon exiting there was a lot of Abbos about. Not being racist at all but they do make you very wary and nervous to be around. They seem to concregate around certain areas depending where there are spirits and not spirits. (There aren't allowed on spirits lands, which is good but I'm guessing Burswood hasn't got any!) So there was also a lot of transit officers (train security, they also have the power of arest like the police) and police about which properly makes the Abbos more trouble. We escaped from the heat inside the casino and it was heaving full of people!! There was a lot going on inside and we weren't sure of where to go. We had a small budget to gamble with but we were unlucky!
Once we had spent our had earned cash we headed back to Perth, we walked the short distance to Northbridge, where there are also lots of Abbos, Asian rival gangs and even more police. They had a little stage and live music and performaces going on. We headed into the Brass monkey and found our French roommates, Thomas and Marie. We had a good view of the ground below on the balcony, we counted in the New Year wondering if the party was getting started at home yet. The crowd died pretty quickly, with a few fights breaking out and the mounted police arriving, (I'm not really selling Northbridge well, am I. Admittedly it is a dump and dodgey!) We headed home with a friend of Thomas and Marie, who I can't remember his name but he was Brazilian! We had a few more drinks and played cards games until 4am! I couldn't believe I managed to stay up that late!
I crashed out and we woke up around 10am so we wouldn't lose sleep before work tonight.
We also had tickets just before new years for the hopman cup tennis, in the company's coroprate box, it was so nice! I didn't even mind watching tennis either!!
We didn't really do a hell of a lot in Janaury, our Irish room mates moved out along with the stuck up English couple too, who thought they were better than everyone because of their fat paycheck they got each month.
The car was taken to the garage aswell, it got picked up by the towing company and was in the garage for pretty much the whole of January! It had A LOT of work done. A completly new exhaust from top to bottom and pretty much everything else! We were estatic when we got it back towards the end of January!
We went to the aquarium which was good fun up in the Hillarys, they had some HUGE rays in the tanks! They had a huge tank full of reef sharks and rays which you could stand on a traverlator and travel through the tank. It was pretty cool. We walked around the pier and had some food before we headed home on the bus and train.
Stu has been working hard at the airport unloading trailers in the awful heat that doesn't seem to be subsiding any time soon! I have been working hard and have asked if the company could sponsor me which I have been waiting to hear back! Fingers crossed!!
