We got up nice and early to get the house ready for inspection, we already know the landlord is in a bad mood as he is coming up from down South to check us out. But he should of forward planned this!
The car is all packed up and we are all ready to go, just waiting for the landlord to appear. The house check took an hour to do, he noticed stupid things like the oven not being cleaned enough and the floor tiles on the bathroom, which I lied and said i scrubbed them. He also asked where the scrubbing brush was I used, so I also lied saying it was in the bin because it was disgusting! (I had thrown about 2 away during my clean!) He also didn't mention anything about the bath needing to be replaced nor the bed panel that we managed to break on the bed.
All in all we should be getting our bond back minus extra for the last bills to come through.
We left home around 12 and got on the road to Rockingham it was sad leaving Perth, it will be missed!
We arrived in Rockingham to visit Penguin island, I wanted to do the sealion tour but they weren't operating today due to bad weather or swell. Well the weather was beautiful so I assumed the swell! We had a short wait so grabbed some lunch, and being a bank holiday prices had an extra 15% on top, well lunch cost us some $30, which was painful!
After an expensive lunch we got onto to boat for the short trip to Penguin island, unfortunately the penguins come out at night properly because the weather is cooler, we had an hour to kill before we had to get back on the boat to make good time to Busselton. We had a little walk around the island which looks like a kangaroo from above ironically! It was a beautiful day and if only we had the house check earlier we could of spent more time here as the beaches and water looked very inviting!
We jumped back on board the boat back to the mainland and headed down the 'scenic' route to Busselton. I say scenic but there isn't much to be seen between towns, just vast acres of grass land with the old house here and there! You begin to realize the size of Australia once you start driving it!
We arrived in Busselton and found our campsite which was much closer to Dunsborough than Busselton! We made camp and made some dinner on the BBQ before getting washed and dressed and into the tent. In good time as it started to rain, constantly through out the night, not too heavy rain though just light rain.

We woke up nice an early, maybe due to the hard sleeping arrangements. We got ourselves washed, dressed and fed before heading back into Busselton. It was an overcast day and I had to retrieve my jumper from the car! We visited the Busselton jetty, which is the longest jetty in the Southern hemisphere at 1.8km long, the longest jetty in the world is in Southend in the UK which is 300 meters longer! It was a long old walk, maybe because I could see the end of the jetty, but we eventually arrived and we headed down to see the underwater observatory. It was a good idea, but not worth the money in our opinion. It had four levels each with a window where you could see the 'changing' marine life as you went down to the bottom of the ocean which was 8 meters long. The highlight of this was we actually saw an octopus sticking itself to one of the windows! That was pretty awesome!
After the short tour we headed back on top and walk the 1.8km back to shore. It was lunch time by now so we had our lunch wish was tuna sandwiches, which attracted a few seagulls. The sun had decided to re-appear and it was getting warm again.
We walked into town and got dinner for tonight and had a look around. It was quite small to what I was expecting, but then again Perth is the 'biggest' city in WA so everything will seem small in comparison!
We stopped by the car shop, and brought some more oil and coolant for the car, which seems to be drinking both. We have managed to diagnose the problem to a head gasket, which I find strange as the garage said it was fine when we brought it in with radiator problems. Never mind, mechanic Stu has been doing a good job keeping an eye on Red (the car!).
We arrived back at the campsite and decided to go for a walk along the beach across the road. It was a bit too cold to go swimming in today! But it was a lovely beach being enjoyed by the locals and the dogs! We watched the sun go down before heading back for dinner and a shower! Our feet seem to be getting really dirty with all this dirt/sand around! Its not like camping back at home on lush green grass. Too much of a drought over here!!!
