December 2012
Well Christmas has arrived, and so has the heat! Summer is here, and its roasting!!
The 1st day of Christmas was spent at the Cricket, Aus Vs S.Africa, Australia lost big time! But it was a good day out, I enjoyed it more than Stu, but that because Stu can't apperciate and awesome sport like Cricket!! It was bloody roasting that day, I spent the day with a t-shirt on my head to keep the sun off (I may have looked like an idiot, but it worked), Stu got sunburnt again, that boy will never learn!!
We put up our Christmas decorations, I felt a little bit more Christmassy, but still not 100%!
We have been abusing the new outdoor swimming pool opposite our house, it is so nice and cool and chilly, its a good relief on hot days in the summer!
We had our Christmas get together with everyone before they all went home for Christmas, we had even brought secert santa gifts! It was a good laugh, we even got the new house mates involved, Thomas and Mauriel!
The next day we all went to the beach down south at Secert Harbour, its not much of a secert, theres signs everywhere! We had a BBQ and sat on the beach for a while, but it was really windy and unpleasent with the sand blowing in your face!
We made a quick exit and headed to Sarah's house in Pinjarra, her mum's house is awesome. We all have a nose around and found the cinema room. It was pretty epic in there! It wasn't even a flat screen TV, it was a protector!!!! I want a house like this! Sarah also had a pool so we spent the arvo in the pool, with the dog! Stu and Simon had world championship of ping pong for the whole day!
We had another BBQ and chilled out with a few beers, we went for a wonder at night to see the Christmas lights. One house had a Christmas train that played music, Paul you would of LOVED it! There was one house that had a creepy santa doll with flashing lights for eyes, proper creeped me out!!
We returned back to find we had been swamped by redbacks, disgusting creatures. We killed a few but I still felt unsafe in the wildness of Sarah's back garden.
For our work Christmas do, we went for Christmas lunch at il lido in Cottesloe, it was really tasty, and free!! Yummy!! Then the next day we had another roast at work, Stu is quite unhappy with the amount of free things I get!! I told him to be quiet as I had won a ham and a hamper as well! It was a huge hamper and was heavy taking it home on the bus, train and another bus! I also have 18 bottles of wine (I think they are reproducing in my cupboard!) I need to get drinking!!
Christmas eve at work was fun, I brought in some Christmas music so I felt really Christmassy then and was singing my heart out! Then we did secert santa at work which was good fun when Justin came in with an inflatable Santa suit on! We joined Simon and Shelly at the park for a few beers, luckily there are no aboriginals here in Leederville so you don't get bothered unlike in some suburbs! Christmas eve wasn't the same as being back at home in the pub :( today is the only day I felt kind of sad not being home!
Christmas day was bizzare, it didn't feel like Christmas, felt like a weekend. We went to the beach and had a few beers. It reached 40 degrees and Stu (once again) got REALLY sunburnt! It has taken nearly a week to go down! We enjoyed openning our pressies from Stu's mummy! Lots of little fun things! I cooked a mini roast but with salmon instead as it was way to hot for anything else! We had invited Stu's friend along, called Stu. It got a bit confusing when I started moaning at (my) Stu, because they other Stu thought I was moaning at him! We also spoke to home which was nice, but I was very surprised that I didn't get more homesick, I think if the weather wasn't as good as it was I might have been more upset. I had such an exciting day that I crashed out my 9:30!!
Boxing day it his 41-43, it was unbearable nearly. We did go to harbour town, the outlet store, and we did a bit of sale shopping. We spent $100 between us but brought quite a lot. The walk home was horrible though! Sweating like mad! I think I had three cold showers in total. Late afternoon we went to the park and had a mini BBQ on the free BBQs they have for the public! Which was nice.
Trying to sleep for the past week has been awful, we have our standing fan on high, the windows shut (its hotter out there then inside) plus we have no fly netting to stop bugs coming in at night, our door open and the aircon pumping in the kitchen. Once the aircon comes on its not too bad I can feel cold air circulating and then have been able to sleep.
Work has been getting mental, I have three projects on the go, one with a deadline for the 21st Jan, but at least it keeps me occupied and busy!
Stu is thinking of looking for something with more hours so we can get more money coming in. Even though I secretly enjoy having the bed to myself!
I have also lost about 5kg in two months, nothing too exciting but an achievement none the less! I am proud!!
We have got some plans for new years, we are thinking of going to the casino (the only one in Perth) and getting the buffet and having a bit of a gamble. I am planning to only use $50 and try and come away with some money! I think we have managed to get a group of 8 or so now to come along, so it will be a better new years than just the two of us!
We have been thinking of our next step/stop, which changes on a weekly basis at the moment. But we may have come up with a plan of sorts, but we just need to find out the best way to action it!
We hoped you all had an amazing Christmas and have a safe new years! We still miss you all xxx
