Best bits…
What have been my best bits, I would like to say all of it but I'll limit myself!
· Actually leaving and completing my dream, it was pretty epic! The train to Paris at 5:40am I didn't enjoy but I had ants in my pants the whole journey!
· Berlin - all of it. The history of it all, I have a great interest in the history of WWI and WWII since my family had been involved in it all, as many others I'm sure. It was good to experience what it would have been like, obviously horrific but an eye opener.
· Prague - Is a pretty, and petty awesome place to go.
· Walking around a deserted Warsaw zoo in the snow! Pretty funny thinking about it now!
· Making it into Russia after hearing the horror stories with customs etc.
· Experiencing Russian winter and snow up to my waist, I don't think I could do it again, it was pretty damn chilly but awesome!
· Realising we have gotten into trouble with the Russian police due to the vodka we had and had to pay a fine, after translating the Russian note we received!
· Sleeping in a Ger camp in the middle of Mongolia!
· Experiencing the Trans-Mongolian, once in a lifetime I think I would fly next time! Six days on a train is a LONG time!
· Being back in China, I loved China when I went when I was 17, loved it more.
· The Great Wall, been there once but this time going to the quieter side was so much nicer!
· The food in China, oh how I miss our banquets we had (between Stu and I!)
· Seeing pandas (ok in a zoo but still PANDAS!)
· Yangshuo, awesome town.
· Our train rides in China with our group, best conversations I've had!
· The Germans on both of our tours through Russia and China. Miss their humour!
· Koh Rong, waking up eating, swimming, eating, drinking, eating maybe some more swimming and bedtime.
· Siem Reap and the Angkor Temples with Ant and Kate. Best part in Cambodia.
· Experiencing the bamboo train in Battambang and the millions of bats!
· The cheap beer, food and the friendliest locals I have ever met!
· Ha long bay cruise (about the only thing I really enjoyed in Vietnam!)
· Luang Prabang and seeing the elephants in person!
· The gibbon experience. Zipping on zip wires across massive valleys, literal once in a lifetime experience. Too cliché? I don't care! Spending the night in a giant tree house playing spoons!
· Thai food…need I say more?!
· Koa Tao - diving all day, every day my dream world!
· Phi Phi - Paradise!
· Georgetown - cute old British colonial town with awesome street food!
· Cameron Highlands - picturesque area in Malaysia. Nice cool climate!
· The Petronas Towers
· Luxury in Singapore!
Worse bits…
There hasn't been many but here's a few…
· Experiencing the worse hangover to date in Berlin, damn jagermeister!
· Ukraine - maybe I was disappointed as I couldn't go to Chernobyl but massive culture shock for me!
· The lift in the hostel in Ukraine. I think I aged myself and Stu by 10 years…I have not complained about stairs since. Honestly I haven't!
· The Chinese's pushing and staring at you like you have a giant sign on your forehead!
· Sand-flies in Cambodia
· Vietnam's culture, I should say non-existing culture.
· Being bitten to hell by bed bugs in Vietnam
· The buses in Laos and the while knuckle ride I experienced
· The sleazy side to Thailand in the south
I don't think I can think of any more…!
There is properly hundreds more I could say but it would take me a lifetime!
I have honestly enjoyed every second of our trip; there is little we have missed out on. If I could do it again, I would in a heartbeat!
Travelling for six months over land (bar two flights) to Singapore through 17 countries is an achievement! I don't think I could have hoped for a better travel partner, we haven't killed each other and were friends for the most part of the trip!
It seems like so long ago now when we first left the UK thinking about it (it's the 24th August today) and it has seemed to go so fast now, but we have enjoyed everything! I'm sure we will re-visit places that we have enjoyed and we have made so many friends that we plan to keep in touch with!
Now we are on the next part of our adventure!
