Soongies' Great Adventure
Today we drove from Copenhagen to a small town called Habo, in Sweden (a halfway point to get to Stockholm). It was about a 4 hour drive, with a little bit of rain on the way. The first introduction to Sweden was the expensive 16 km Øresund Bridge which cost around $75 to drive on. We drove through forest and past deep red timber houses to reach the Habo area. Our accommodation was pretty cool! It was a timber stuga (like a detached granny flat) with a wood fire and an outside toilet and shower. Best part was that it overlooked a lake with a small island and there was a sauna! Once we arrived we got the fire going and then went down to the sauna. Inside the sauna was a fire with rocks that you poured water over to make the steam! And from the sauna you could see the lake (when the windows weren't fogged up from the steam or covered in raindrops). It definitely felt like we were in country Sweden! There was a boat we could use too but unfortunately it was a bit cold and wet to make use of it! The area around was so beautiful and felt so isolated - mostly forest and lake - only a few houses dotted around the lakeside. It was a shame it was so rainy and windy as it would have been beautiful to walk around. After the sauna it was time to make vegetarian pasta for dinner! Meat is soooo expensive in Scandinavia so we will probably be eating a lot of vegetarian food, although veggies are also pretty pricey too!! It was a nice warm night in the stuga with the heaters and the fireplace going. Calvin decided to leave the comfortable warmth of the sofa bed at 3 in the morning to try and photograph the amazing night sky.
