Soongies' Great Adventure
Today we drove from Croatia into Slovenia. We were quite excited that we got a Croatian exit stamp and Slovenian entry stamp in our passports without even having to ask this time. It was raining for some of the journey but we have been so lucky – if it rains, it is generally (apart from in Bosnia) on one of our bigger driving days so it doesn't really impact our plans. The countryside was quite spectacular during the car journey. We stopped at Novo Mesto in Slovenia at one of the big shopping centres for lunch (pizza and wedges followed by icecream). We took our time here as we weren’t able to check into our apartment until 4pm. As we arrived into Ljubljana (the capital) a bit too early, we used the opportunity to visit the tourist information centre to give us some ideas for things to do over the next 4 days. Once it hit 4:00 we were ready to check into the apartment – we met the owner’s friend outside the front of the apartment, who came in the car with us to get to the parking area. But it wasn’t just your usual apartment parking – we went in a car elevator! We drove into the elevator – pressed the button – and literally went down into the basement parking area then the doors opened and we drove it! It was such an experience! The next exciting thing was finally being able to wash our clothes as the apartment had a washing machine. Later that evening, Calvin went for a walk around Ljubljana but Kate stayed at home as she was pretty exhausted! Then it was leftover curry for dinner.
