Buenos Dias. This is Eli. I'm doing okay - considering! My toe is broken which is real disappointing because I don't get to do much with my cousins but hobble around behind them, and my sisters and especially Dad are a pain teasing me.
Harvesting was good - most days! I learned a bit of Spanish, a bunch about the machinery, and a lot about Mexican women (they can be bossy but they make good tacos). I worked 12 hour days for five weeks, and it's good to be finished. I'm looking forward to hitting the road again though. I like being a gypsy, and we've been settled for quite a while now.
We're going to Dinuba next to work at a Gleanings Project where fruit and vegetables are dehydrated and made into trail mix or soup mix for disaster relief. I'm hoping that Dad and I will get a chance to do some mechanics and possibly construction as they need some work done on the drying machines. I personally would much rather do that than chop onions for two weeks!
I'm at the point in our journey where I feel like we should be heading home because we have just been visiting relatives which we have done before - kind of like summer vacation. So far my favourite part of this trip was the North Western part of BC. Both Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii were my favourite places. I wouldn't want to live there, but I think it's because we had to "rough it" and we'd never been there before. I'm hoping that Dad and I can go camping together in our tent we brought - I'm just not sure what to do with the girls. When we leave Chico though, it seems like our journey will really begin. I can't wait for the unknown. It is a great experience. I've laughed... I've cried... two thumbs up!
