For years I have dreamed of owning a family restaurant. Strange I know, but for over 20 years I have described it in detail to Tim from the menu to the name. This dream began in 1988 when I flew to New York to meet my friend who flew from England. Together we visited a mutual friend in the heart of Amish country, Pennsylvania. It's hard to recall everything we did on this adventure, but I will never forget going to the most amazing restaurant called Good 'n Plenty. The food was fabulous, but the setting was exceptional. We were seated at long tables which we shared with strangers, who quickly became friends as we passed bowls of farm fresh food and platters of dessert back and forth to each other.
Today, I returned with my family. It was blessing enough just to be there again, but as is His usual way, God added His special touch. Our table of twelve was occupied by 2 couples, 3 seniors, and us, from 4 different states and one province. Naturally, our table was the most animated... The seniors were siblings; two sisters and their "baby" brother - a pattern we know well.
Originally from Pennsylvania, the seniors had left their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to reunite, reminisce, and reconnect. What a hoot they were having! Although, Len, (the baby brother) assured us that siblings are highly overrated! Their stories were fascinating, their history rich, and their enthusiasm totally contagious.
We all delighted in the idea that the younger siblings at the table (ironically, two sisters and their baby brother) may one day gather for their own adventure when they are old - perhaps even to this very restaurant - to reunite, reminisce, and reconnect.
