Hottest day of the year for us so far, 31 degrees on our way to Dutch Lake in Clearwater. We're thinking we won't be getting set up until AFTER we swim!

Dutch Lake is a special place for our family. This was a favourite spot for Mom and Dad Smith. We have shared many memories here with and without Mom over the years since Dad's passing. This year, Mum and Dad Holdstock will be there with us for the weekend. We are crossing paths, as we hope to in other places throughout our year away, as they head to Enderby and we go on to Winfield and Kelowna.

The province of British Columbia is a marvel to behold and I am in awe over and over, even when I travel the same roads yet again. However, I have to admit it is the people we have visited, stayed with, or met for the first time that are as magnificent and beautiful as the creation around them. As we hang out in RV parks and destination places, I get to keep asking Tim, "Who's your new friend?"

Today I was pulled aside by one such new friend, and told how marvellous our children are. This lovely, elderly woman assured me, "I have seen a lot of things, but you have a wonderful family. Your kids are hard workers and they have a great attitude." There's nothing sweeter to a mother's ears! My heart is still smiling.
