I am amazed again at the magnificence of God's breathtaking creation. Each place we go we think it is the best, and yet it just keeps getting better.
We are Hot Springing our way around the south eastern corner of the province. We stopped in Invermere to see Dr. Bruce and Donna Thiessen. Regrettably Donna was off hugging grandkids in Saskatchewan, but we had a lovely conversation together on speaker phone. I remember as a young (tired) mom, garnering countless nuggets of wisdom from Donna. She introduced me to the Et Tu Salad trick. Told me they sometimes just ate ice cream for supper and that it was okay! Assured me that a messy house was not a sign of weakness or failure, but of much active love, and reminded me that as long as we are still wearing clothes, the laundry will never be done! For this and much more, Donna, I am truly thankful.
The kids weren't sure if they would remember Bruce, but as soon as they heard him laugh they all looked at each other and giggled as the memories flooded in. In fact, "one" of them asked us before we got there: "Do Bruce and Donna have kids at home?" "No" we said. "Do they have cows?" she asked hopefully. "No" we replied. "Then why are we going?" she quizzed. lol
So after a wonderful meal prepared by Naomi, with ice cream produced by Bruce, we had made peace with the fact that there were no kids or cows. But like I said, just when we think we have the best, it gets even better. We were blessed to go with Bruce on his evening rounds at the veterinary clinic. There were no cows, but what a tremendous experience for all of us. We even went back in the morning to check if our doctoring and prayers had worked. Who knows, we may be growing a future veterinarian.
