Managed to get up on time and make it for the DVD which consisted of hilarious statements like "if you see a child, do not hit the child" or "you are driving on a beach, do not drive into the sea" ....because clearly we had all planned to do these things! lol
we left Hervey bay at 8am to get the barge across to fraser Island, which only took about 15minutes. we have a convoy of 4 cars, i didnt want to drive at first but definately will at some point! we have a really nice mixture of people in our group, much like the Whitsundays trip. on the first day we drove to a place called central station (a main meeting point on the island with old buildings where the first inhabitants used to live) then we drove to Ely Creek- a fresh water spring which flows through the rainforest, its amazing and the water is so clear it is nicknamed the invisible creek>
i walked around with a lady called helen, and after the creek we drove to lake Wabby, an amazing pool surrounded by a HUGE sand dune! there were fush and even turtles in there, which put me off a bit lol. we all though we would be clever on the way back to the cars and walk OVER the sand dune- big mistake!- bloody hot and hard work! oh, and i forgot to mention the MARSH FLIES!
these bugs are the aussie equivilant to our horse flies, excet about 4 times the size, and the b*****s dont give up! you whack one off and theres 6 more on you somewhere else! and for some reason they took a liking to my butt! 4 big bites, even through short and a towel! nasty! and as dudby said "KILL THE F**KERS" lol which didnt make much differecne as there was millions of them, so i thank whatever genius pitched our camp RIGHT NEXT TO a MARSH!!! idiot!! lol
anyway, me and helen were heading back to camp and we saw a snake! we later described this to Dubsy, who told us it was a DEATH ADDER! one of the most dealiest snakes in Aus! we were freaked out big time after that!
we finally got to our camp at 5pm, only to discover our toilet was broken, and that we would have to go in pairs, into the bush, to pee and pooh, yes, thats as horrific as it sounds! i cant say i was over the moon but alot of the more girly girls were distraught lol
everyone cooked a big BBQ in an attempt to cheer ourselves up and then we laid on the beach and watch the stars, it was like being inside a planetarium! amazing! and i saw 2 shooting stars!
