had the most AMAZING day yesterday, came down and took full advantage of the free breakfast, and booked our speedboat trip (Jet Sprinter) got to the marina at about 10.30 and knowing about the glass bottom boat i was quite relaxed and excited...until that was, i was handed a stinger suit, a life jacket, AND a noodle and told "oh dont worry, you'll float!" to which the woman in the shop proceeded to tell everyone that there was a non-swimmer on board, thanks love! so by this point i was bricking it!

there were hoever 3 more non swimmers on board. 3 chinese woman, who cracked me up big time by shouting (in a perfect chinese accent) "ohhh...da noodles on board, da noodle so coool" nearly wet myself!! lol

so had a nice 50mph ride to the reef with 360 degree spins and bumps, and 15mins later we arrive at the lone islands- beautiful!

everyone is kitting out with flippers and snorkels, and skipper steve lowers you into the water, and after calling me a "yella" a few times and once again reassuring me that i will float, IM IN! F#*K! off i paddle- doggy style of course haha (good job i can laugh at myself really) and im over the great barrier reef, really strange feeling!

i reluctantly stick my masked face in the water and OMG!...the most amazing colours and fish you can imagine! i still cant believe i did it!im so proud of myself right now! and to top it all off, on the boat ride back we saw a black tipped reef shark and 2 turtles!

leaving port douglas today though and heading back to cairns, we reckon we will spend one day in cairns and then move on, but after my amazing day today its going to take something special to top Port Douglas for me!
