Saz and Dave's travels
We woke up late this morning and had breakfast at around 10 am, as when we woke up it was raining and hence sent us straight back to sleep as being English we knew there was nothing to do when it rains abroad!
After breakfast, we eventually decided that today we would spend the day relaxing at our beach (the little beach we found yesterday on the way to Long beach). By the time we left the hotel, the rain had completely stopped and the sun was out with a vengence. So slowly through the mid day heat we made the 30 minute walk through the town and resorts to our beach where we set up camp in the shade of a big tree.
One of the many cool things about this beach is that there are loads and loads of tiny white crabs that run around your feet eating ants and burying in the sand. At one point I noticed a really irritating pain on my arm and realised that it was a massive red ant trying to eat me so i took my revenge by feeding it to a couple of the near-by crabs. Revenge was sweet although Sarah thought i was a bit wierd with the amount of enjoyment i took from this ceremony.
We stayed on the beach for most of the day reading and enjoying the beautiful views with the only interuption of people passing and asking whether this was the way to Long beach. For lunch we clambered over the rocks on the shore as we couldnt be assed trecking through the local resort to a small shack that sold burgers and fruit shakes. VERY NICE!!!!
We remained on the beach after lunch until about 5ish and walked back to our hotel the same way as we did yesterday, however the tide was not as far out today so we ended up wading through the sea all the way back. It was a bit scary at one point though when we noticed these enormous black crabs with massive claws scuttling around the nearby rocks, we have never seen crabs anywhere near as big as that!
One point that we havn't previously made is that there are no roads on Phi Phi so everywhere is linked by small footpaths and the only vehicles on the Island are bikes or golf buggies (interesting fact of the day for you all there).
Anyway ... getting back to the days events, when we got back to the room we had a quick shower and a coffee before heading out for some tea. We chose a small mediteranean style restaurant and had garlic bread, chicken and cashew nuts, again, and pad thai.
After enjoying tea we had a quick blast on the internet and then went to bed, unfortunately the internet here is very expensive (2 quid an hour) so that may explain why we are a little behind. Sorry!
