So after leaving Chivay with a hangover we finally arrived in Arequipa around lunchtime. We checked into a hotel which was really nice, dumped our bags then went to visit the 'Museo Santuarios Andinos' otherwise known as 'Juanita Museum'

Well... 'Juanita-The Inca Ice Maiden' is the well preserved frozen body of an Inca girl who was discovered in 1995 at the top of Mount Ampato almost 6300m above sea level.

They believe she was only 12-14 years old when she was killed as an offering to the Inca Gods almost 500years ago, and she was only discovered because the nearby volcano,Sabancaya, erupted causing the ice around her to melt and reveal her tomb.

We walked around with a guide from the museum, who showed us clothing, pottery and ornaments which were all found with Juanita and still intact. I thought I was dealing with my hangover really well until we finally went to see 'Juanita' ...

Hmm ok so in this dark room was this girl all frozen and curled up. She looked tiny and still had hair, nails, teeth etc etc! As amazing as it is, and she obviously was to go through what she did, I was just slightly freaked out :-/ she looked like she was going to jump out at me...All in all the museum was really interesting but...well google it and see her for yourself!

So after that ordeal we left and went for Ice-cream then headed back to the hotel with wine. A few people chilled around the pool for the rest of the afternoon and then in the evening we met for welcome drinks (pisco blooming sours-my enemy) then headed off into town for a group meal.

The meal was really good but we seem to drink a lot! We headed out to a couple of bars and finally ended up at a nightclub which had a rooftop dance floor/bar area which was really cool. Think we rolled in at like 4am...

The next morning Shanna came into mine and Nikkies room...with a beer! It was only 9am and we were hanging! We somehow thought it would be a great idea to order breakfast in bed...3 cheeseburgers por favour...oh and 3 beers please!! how bad is that!! So the 3 of us sat in bed with a beer and a burger haha shocking!

The rest of the day was spent in bed...think we moved at about 6pm and us girls went out for a meal which took forever! Then everyone went back to bed, we had to be up at 5am the next day...BUT myself, Shanna and Nikkie decided it would be fun to go have a few drinks...and we did only have one!! but it was a pitcher of pisco sours each!! which took us forever to drink, got us hammered and I have no idea what time we got back but getting up at 5am the next day was pure hell!!

So that was Arequipa...a frozen girl who just scared me and a whole lot of alcohol! Amazing!
