Wow so after Nazca we arrived at this cool little oasis in the middle of the desert, and had a picnic by the lake!
We did some vital shopping which included the purchases of Vodka and Inka Kola, and prepared ourselves for a night camping amongst the dunes!
We were taken into the desert in these super fun buggies! They were awesome! We were just flying over sand dunes, down steep drops back up and over...best fun ever and then we stopped for some sandboarding!
So we started off on the short but still fairly steep dune...my first attempt was a wipeout and a whole lot of sand in the mouth but fear not I did improve! We got back in the buggies and headed to another dune for round two! Progress! and such good fun! We did quite a few different dunes including a double one which I seemed to whizz down so fast! hehe but a few people either stopped or wiped out which is all funny to watch until someone gets hurt...Dee! unfortuantely took a huge wipeout and ended up at the hospital...so we were all kind of nervous when we got to our last dune...but I went for miles! I was going so fast! nobody beat me on that one haha loved it!
After the boarding we took the buggies to our campsite...just another part of the desert! It was really cool though, we had a campfire and our guides cooked us kebabs and supplied us with a lot of coco sours! strong ones! The stars were amazing and we just camped in our sleeping bags on the sand.
We were all quite drunk, did some late night sandboarding on the dune nearby and then passed out!
The next day T-Bone (Anthony) woke up and realised he had fallen in the campfire drunk hahahaha not funny but well it was! He did have a few grazes/burns on his face eek and to numb the pain he...drank vodka! of course thats exactly what you do! So he ended up hammered again and could barely walk! Nut Job!
We headed back to the oasis, had breakfast at the hostal and took a shower...I was still finding sand in my ears about a week later!
Our next stop was Lima and on route we took a boat trip to Islas Ballestas, home to thousands of stinky birds and their poop! Not what you need after a drunkern night in the desert...and to make it worse it was freezing cold so me and Shanna were huddled up and we wrapped life jackets around us to try and keep warm...on the plus side we saw some Peruvian Boobies...haha it's a bird but I know what you was thinking hehe...
Next stop Lima and the end of my overland trip :-(
