So yesterday was our first full day here in Koh Lanta. Weather was beaut in the morning so we spent it by the pool. It's a beautiful pool with great views of the sea from it, I do love a good pool. In the afternoon we hired out bikes again and took a drive into the main stretch called Long Beach. Stopped for my first try of fried ice cream, was dreamy!!! Had a look round some small shops and then went to a night market. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and even tried some of the food. So cheap it's unreal. We came back to get ready and then headed back to Long Beach for some drinks. Was pretty dead so came back and due to Lindsey losing his glasses in the pool we all ended up going for a 3am dip. Had lots of giggles doing flips and sending my family an audio of the lion king. Until that is we got told off and ran back to our room. Yes I'm almost 25 hahah.
Got up slightly later today due to last nights antics. Made use of our last day with the bikes and rode south all the way to the bottom of Koh Lanta. Seen an elephant in the street which was a bit of a culture shock. Wasn't until we seen it trying to kick off the chain around it's foot we were like aww that's really sad. Drove all the way to the national park, where we had to pay 220baht to get in. As the weather was rubbish we decided to skip it and go back to a coffee shop we seen on the way. So we had a couple of hours at Kampong restaurant, which was the cutest little place owed by an English couple. Very chilled and was lovely drinking a cup of tea, sat on cushions on the floor while it was raining outside. Great moment.
Thailand has really surprised me, it's way more chilled than I thought in terms of the locals. They don't give you any hassle, and most are very friendly. The men who work at the bar at the hotel have spent time teaching us Thai and how to fire dance.
Koh Lanta the place hasn't blown me away as such. It's nice as it's bigger so good to drive round. But Long Beach felt a bit dirty to me and lacking charm. Obviously can only compare to Koh Lipe, and still looking forward to seeing more of Thailand.
Spent this evening just chilling out. Had a laugh comparing Canadian food and words with Sam.
Quote: "Do you have ribena? Ribena, what the hell is that, it sounds like a birth control pill."
Heading back to the room now to watch some Kardashians. Moving on tomorrow.
Next stop Koh Pi Pi.
