We got up before 8 and headed to a very local, cheap market Amira had told us about. We weren't sure where it was other than up, so we tried following where people with full bags came from and then where people with empty bags were headed.... Maybe a tuktuk with lots of produce.... then we just asked a few locals. We arrived and climbed up the dirt hill into the sea of corrugated iron. We were the only gringos there and from some of the looks we got, the only ones all day or all month.
It was like all markets except some parts stank really bad, some people were just selling a box of potatoes and others selling the usual market fare. There were some random livestock sellers, with s box of tiny chicks (in the pictures) and later a box of ducks, one of chickens and a box of mixed young ones. This place sold everything and it was very very cheap. 1kg of bananas or mandarins for 1 sol, that's 30c. We Walked back home with all the goodies we though we needed, but we should have got more.
We got into a little Spanish study and some housework when we returned as we were still not sure when Amira would return. We really did love that we had lots of fruit to eat, bananas, apples, mandarins and kiwi fruit, all we need is some yoghurt and we can make fruit salad.
I Watched a movie in the afternoon while Sarah slept as she had a headache. It got worse and worse until any light causing problems.
I headed out for food and to try and meet up with a friend from couch surfing. I had a few beers while I waited for him until I found out he wasn't working till Monday. O well, so I had a few beers with an Irish girl and English guys and girls who were teaching in a school in Lima and heading back in an hour. It was good fun. When they left the place changed from back packer bar to local hangout in about 15 minutes and then I was trying to talk to the guides from galexcia and other companies in Spanish. It was interesting.
I walked home to a sick Sarah, drugged her up and organised a few things for her, followed by bed.
