'Romance' language.
We had Spanish in the morning where we learnt that there more than one past tense, which when you think about it it's hard to guess what it could be.
The basic is that they have a past tense for the past that won't happen again and a past tense for the past that could happen again. It's incredible and might be why it's a 'romance' language. Eg by saying i loved them you say either; I loved them but never again or I loved but I hope to love them again.
Or 'did you speak to Lucy (my sister)?' It could be I spoke to her (but hope to again) or I spoke to her (but that's it). It has so many hints and ways to express yourself.... It's also very annoying to learn but very interesting. It's for all verbs. One last one, Eg, I was fat (either never again or I might be again in the future). It expresses alot. It really does have many funny applications.
At the end of this we were talking about Australia which I know from travelling, no one knows much about it. Our teacher didn't realise there was a indigenous population, or the size or how dry it is. It's interesting as Peru has a big indigenous population and has many climates.
We played Snakes and ladders with the seniors counting the numbers upto one hundred and lunch taking care of the fleas. Just for something different we played snakes and ladders with the junior class too, however there were too many kids and a couple of fleas. These fleas kept moving the counters and the plastic sheet and having so many kids produced fights and arguments, arguments in Spanish with us as the responsible judges. It is hard when they speak so fast and are annoyed.
We caught up with Sabine for an hour to help claim our raffle prize..... hiking or mountain bike riding? We have already crossed off ice climbing and rock climbing as they are cheaper and we want to get our money's worth out of our prize.
We went home again and to the novelty of playing with our dog and also to study Spanish. I decided to help with motivation I should pickup a local red larger, after all it only knows Spanish.
Dinner tonight was to be special as its our first language exchange night and dinner with Favi, our partner from the quiz. It's just a little more time speaking spanish, or more likely, Spanglish. It's great for us to practice like that too. She also invited us to her parents house for lunch one day, she said her mum invited us after she spoke about us. I think it would be great, hard on the Spanish but great.
