Just a clue as to how to view the photo albums with a larger picture. If you click on a picture eg the first one it will display them in a larger format that is easier to see.
10th June Saturday
We left Port Lincoln today after having the car serviced yesterday. Oh Boy! Did that put a hole in the bank balance? Anyway it had to be done, so the jeep is good for another 10,000 kms.
We spent the night at a place called Port Kenny on the Flinders highway which is the main road we are travelling on. It was very quiet which was not surprising as it was not one of the finest establishments we have ever stayed in.
Sunday 11th June
We arrived at Ceduna today, which is roughly 450kms from the WA border and therefore another quarantine checkpoint, so we need to be careful with our fruit and veg purchases. These checkpoints are necessary I know but it means that for several days while crossing the Nullabor we will have no access to fresh fruit and veg unless you want to pay top dollar for stale.
We booked in here at a park, Shelly Beach Caravan Park. We are familiar with this park from our last trip west. It is such a quiet, clean and well run place. We love it here.
The amenities are shower and toilet together (en-suite) type rooms, so there is plenty of room and privacy.
We have a huge site set in its own garden space so we are feeling very comfortable and content.
Monday 12th June
We took advantage of the en-suite rooms today instead of using the onboard shower. Later on we will go into town which is about 3kms away for a look, but as it is a public holiday everywhere, there won't be much to see shop wise, but there is a foreshore and a jetty.
No Woolworths or Coles here, just an enormous Foodland. We stocked up on necessary items. Most of the goods are at least $2.00 dearer than in the metropolitan areas, so even if you don't buy much it's pretty expensive. We came back and cooked some silverside for tea and cold meat.
Tuesday 13th June
Read books this morning after a big sleep in. Then we climbed the sand dunes and walked along the beach. Later we went into Thevenard which is about 3kms down the road. Thevenard is where the fish factories are. We went into one where they were cleaning the fresh fish caught this morning. Ross bought 1 dozen huge oysters and two pieces of fresh whiting for his tea for $20. He has already eaten his oysters!!
Wednesday 14th June
Today was washing day and cook up day, getting ready to leave Ceduna tomorrow
Thursday 15th May
Left Shelly beach Caravan park today and stayed the night at an overnight free rest stop on the Eyre Highway. We were the only ones there . i was pretty glad I preparaed three meals before we left Ceduna. tonight we had pumpkin soup. Early to bed and watched Tv by satellite dish.
Friday 16th June
Halfway across the Nullabor. Staying the night at another free rest stop. Chow mien tonight. We have quite a few photos so check them out for an insight into the last few days.
Monday 20th June
Arrived at Norseman today which is where we leave the Eyre Highway (Nullabor) to now head south to have a look at the Margaret River area, The Tin Horse Highway, Some painted silos, the giant trees, Wave Rock and whatever else we find along the way.
