Hello there! Well the countdown has well and truly begun, with only 7 nights of our adventure left, which is a little gutting to say the least! Our 6 weeks on Koh Samui has been just what the doctor ordered before we venture back into the real grown-up world which is waiting for us at home!
It occured to me earlier that the last 6 weeks has probably been the longest amount of time i've stayed in one place since i was about 9 years old... from memory this was the age at which dad first started transporting me around the country to various National Chess tournaments (my choice, not his!) and since then i've been on one continuous roller-coaster of car, train, plane, roller-coaster and boat... on journeys to work, rest, football, holiday, family and a fair old smattering of play. I've realised that it does you good to just stop still for a while!!! We've certainly done that!!!
Excitement levels reached fever pitch last night as Rache and I attended our first "social engagement" in weeks last night... namely the Frog & Gecko Pub Quiz in Fisherman's Village (no fishermen in sight, bizarrely)! Surprisingly we performed quite well, (especially as we were a team of two when many had between 4 and 6 players in their teams) coming in a creditable 4th out of 18 teams! Who knows where we might have ended up if i hadn't changed Holland to South Africa at the last minute for question 51 and we'd remembered Bippety-Boppity-Boo was from Cinderella, not Fantasia... rumour has it Disney want my Cast Member badge back for getting that one wrong!
Anyway, i'm off now to work on my final BLOG of the trip... i've got a week to plan, so the pressure is on. How will i draw it to a close after all the sights, excitement and adventures we've been through?!?! Maybe i'll just keep it going when we get home... it's quite good fun taking stock and making a note of all the things that have happened to you during your week. I wonder why no-one ever thought of it before...?
Ciao! xxx
