Hi everybody! We're currently sitting in Krabi town, catching up on our emails and our internet action before we head out to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.
I've done an entire blog entry for Koh Mook so that it shows on the map - given it's the furthest south we got in thailand via Koh Lanta into Trang Province and the Trang Islands!
Had a lovely few days at Charlie's resort on Koh Mook... nice resort, great pool, lovely food, nice little bamboo hut with a fan, though fortunately it was only the last night that we realised we were being invaded by mice (rats?) while we slept. We should've twigged when we found teeth marks in the top of rache's coco butter, but i figured she had just been desperate to get her legs moisturised!
Highlights of the 4 days were our trip to the Emerald Cave and the couple of hours we had out on the sea in a kayak which was as knackering as it was fab!!! Emerald cave was just round the corner from our beach on Koh Mook and it involves swimming about 80 metres through a cave after a longtail boatman with a dodgy torch... the best bit being about two-thirds in when it goes absolutely pitch black and you're swimming blind! Kicked a couple of japanese kids on the way past, which i enjoyed...! You're rewarded with a tiny little cove completely surrounded by cliffs.. superb!
Speaking of kicking children in the head...
Charlie's Pool saw us getting as close to physical violence than at any point on the trip... what is it that kids don't get about people swimming lengths in swimming pools... you keep out of people's ways, surely?! Anyway, to cut a long story short, words were exchanged between me and the 2 russian boys involved... i'd kicked one of them in the head by accident, they kicked water at me, i taunted one of them (somewhat ironically!) with "do you want to be drowned, fatty?!", then they laughed their way back to their mum and dad. It doesn't matter that they were 6 and 8, it was the principle... don't get in the way of people swimming lengths!!!
Kayaking was cool. We kayaked ( even a word?!) round the headland past emerald cave and found a tiny beach which we had all to ourselves... although i was pretty sure there were monkeys keeping an eye on us from on high, which got us back on the kayak quicker than we might've otherwise...
Got a bonus on the way there and the way back to Koh Lanta as our ferries each way were the tour ferries on 4 island snorkelling tours, so we got to visit koh hai, koh kradan and ko cheung on the cheap and do some snorkelling to boot!
Had a fab time in thailand, which we've finished off with a couple of nights back at Lanta Paradise on Khlong Nin Beach and a night in Krabi town ahead of our flights to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing Charlotte, Aiden and Connie tomorrow as well as planning the next few weeks of our trip to Cambodia, Vietnam & hopefully Laos. Trying to work out how we swing by Chiang Rai to meet up with Jayne & Christophe too! So much to do! xxx
