RolPol
Today we are off to visit Ros's friends Alex and Marino in Koblenz... We hope the weather holds up - just as it said it would (quick online weather check) - Pol had to throw her wet weather gear out - too many leaks to be useful and it takes up a lot of luggage room!! This is the original and oldest car in the East German side of the wall - When it was under the communist rule these cars were bought by East Germans and some had to wait up to 20 years for one! Diantha said they don't break down and can keep going in hot or cold weather...although when you add fuel to it you have to mix the right amount of oil in the fuel!! On our way out... Pit stop. Fuel, oil and tyre pressure check time. Pol couldn't get over this little device - it's for putting air in your tyres and its portable... ...All you have to do, once you've finished with it...is put it back on it's connector. No more untangling hoses or finding that you've parked too far away to reach one of the tyres!!! Ros came out from the petrol station shop with a BIG can of redbull. Pol was worried!!!! Back on the road we go…tyre pressure up…oil good and weather getting warmer…Ros...amped up on Red Bull...what more could we ask for?... …yet another truck to overtake!! Done! Ros was onto it! Fellow motorists! Our little koala is holding on…koala update – 2 fell off so far on this trip Open..windy roads! Brilliant! ...blue skies! Things are looking up again! …more trucks!! …overtaking! More wind turbines! Selfie! KFC and McDonalds! Fuel stop! Koblenz! Late lunch and wet weather gear buying stop! We found a large shopping centre and ample parking...we are so thankful for having a motorbike as opposed to a car...car parking is almost non existent in some of the places we've been to and this one was one of them - city centre! We locked our helmets and jackets onto the bike and ventured out... Ros found a sushi train restarant. We sat down and the waiter that came to our table could not understand English and we could not understand why we would be paying 9.90Euros each...until the waiter asked a member of his chef staff to tell us that 9.90Euros is an all you can eat one hour special...so...one hour to eat anything on the sushi train!!??.. They didn’t have much salad for Pol but Ros managed to get through a few dishes! After Sushi we went out into the town centre in search of a café... ...until Ros spotted a TK MAXX outlet....Pol was quick to get in there to find a top the Hotel in Prague had ruined in the dry cleaning process!!!! Pol surprisingly managed to find exactly the same style of top but in a different colour. This is Ros's friends house...the garage...We have never seen an underground garage accessed via car lift before! Pol was curious! Underground parking - in an old cellar Trying a non alcoholic beer After a rest Alex had booked dinner at a local restaurant which we could walk to along the river. Walking and talking! We had a yummy dinner, really good food and local German wine. It was great, however quick, catching up with Alex and Marino. Koblenz is a lovely town with beautiful countryside near by.
