RolPol
We awoke to a table set up with breakky goods - including Australian tea and vegemite! Thank you Alex! On our way out - to Amsterdam! Chief rider and chief navigator heading off! Alex and Marino suggested we ride past Winningen town.. Pencil fence! Straight into the countryside…in less than 15 mins! This is such a beautiful part of Germany. And then to motorways!! Fuel stop! After a little lunch ( which was expensive - we've found Germany expensive compared to Eastern Europe!) we got riding again. Pol’s turn to ride..she was a little cold and decided to try out her new pink 7 euro wet jacket to keep the wind off… Worked a treat even if she did feel like a peanut! And we’re in Netherlands! We’re excited! Amsterdam….straight! Right by the motorway!! Getting close to the city of Amsterdam: Traffic getting a little busy… Speed limit 100 – speed cameras everywhere! As we got into the city we had a small car pulled in front of us at a set of lights – so Pol stood up for herself, overtook then went straight back in front of it! Riding in Amsterdam is full on as Pol soon found out! Pedestrians on the footpath, bicycles and scooters in their own lanes, cars, and then trams!!! Waiting for the tram to the city centre Scoots – no helmet…and on the bicycle path!! Tram! Chaos! Ros.... 'What Pol? MORE pics?!" Croissant! Moss wall – live Toilets! the next day Cat café for breakky… So moss filled that the duck is leaving a moss trail! Pigeon city! Then the kid comes in… Licking Ros’s finger! Planned on going to anne frank…not anymore…the line is too long! So many bicycles! Building looks like it’s on an angle! Boat city for the sail Amsterdam event that is only on once every 5 years! What happens if you forgot where you parked your bike!!? …wondering what all the fuss is about…why are people waiting!!? … … The bridge moves to let tall ships through!! So many people…so many long lines! So we didn’t end up going on board any of the ships/boats People crossing the road!! Near accident – don’t stop in the middle of the crosswalk to take a pic! Main square Pol chose the restaurant for dinner, Ethiopian! It was a 3km walk away, Ros was chief navigator... When we hit the road the restaurant was on Ros thought it was right, and after a 10 min walk in that direction Pol questioned her. We then asked and found that the restaurant was actually now a 20min walk the other way! The numbers on Amsterdam's roads were confusing to give Ros some credit! Finally we got to the restaurant, and we shared such a good meal and washed it down with Heineken! Perfect!
