Westport is a really small place on the West coast and like we were told the views were amazing on the drive down from Nelson. The drive was very similar to the great ocean road but unfortunately the weather was awful. We stopped off to see some sea-lions and although we saw about 5 the weather was so bad we didnt really care and just wanted to get back on the bus.
Later in the afternoon it got clearer and the we really appreciated the views. We stopped off and did a walk around the sea and the waves were crashing that hard that it was making 'blow holes' where the water was coming up through the rocks like a chimney, it looked amazing and really funny thing to see.
In the evening we all decided to go out in fancy dress and the theme we decided on was a bin-bag night, 4 of us decided that we would dress up as riot police with helmets and bullet proof (plastic) vests!!! It was so much fun and a brillliant night out. Some of the others dressed up as a pregnant woman, a penguin, toilet-brush (funniest thing ever) hawaian dancers, zebra, frog and bride and groom!!! Considering we all used bin-bags the costumes were amazing and hilarious at the same time.
Later that night a few of us walked down to the lake and saw glowworms which were pretty cool.
