We survived the storm yesterday but our van didn't do too well!!! The rain and the wind were great to watch and I have never seen hailstones like it. Shortly after I posted the journal yesterday the power went off in the Internet place and all we could do was watch the storm. People talk about hail the size of golf balls but I never believed it until now, it was amazing and I'm thankful we were able to watch it from inside. There were whole trees drifting down the road which had come to resemble a river!!
When it finally calmed and we got back to the site it dawned on us that we had left the windows on the van open, although they are only side slide windows this didn't stop the rain getting in soaking the inside, not fun!! Once we'd cleared up we decided to cut our losses and stay in a hostel for the night rather than sleep in there. Thankfully that's the worst of it for us.
We left Noosa this morning to drive to Rainbow beach, as tomorrow we are going on a camping trip to Fraser Island, it's the world's largest sand island and will be getting back to nature. Not sure how Rich and I will do as we're not that accustomed to camping for real yet. There are also pure dingoes over there so if you don't here from me again you know why.......
