The last day of our honeymoon and Bangkok is still mostly under water so we're somewhat limited in our options - as the concierge at the hotel suggested we can either shop, or shop! Still we decided to have a peek at Lumphini Park in the vague hope it was dry. It was! And it was lovely. This is where the busy Thais come to spend time chilling out. We found out this means paddling round the lakes on giant swans like you get at Bangor's pickie pool and playing Takraw. This amazing sport is loosely based on volleyball where a small rattan or plastic ball is kept in the air and knocked over the net using only the head or feet. The guys playing were pretty athletic and there was the usual gambling going on in the stalls to keep the spectators interested!
We had lunch at a fab restaurant called Cabbages and Condoms (see pic, yes, that is a santa made of condoms!) which is run by the family planning association of Thailand (all proceeds go to charity) and you're given after dinner condoms instead of mints! Then, we headed for the shops for a bit of retail therapy ahead of our late night flight. Although we're very sad that this is our last day, we have loved it and have lots of our fab friends and family to thank for it! Can't wait to see you all soon - more pictures to follow on Facebook too!
