Today we decided to head to Patong for a last beach day. This was mainly as our original plan to hire a car was scuppered by their being none available (probs a good thing, Phuket looks like it would be horrendous to drive around!). Today we headed back up on to the mainland in order to take in a tour which included an island that featured in the James Bond movie, The Man with the Golden Gun (see pic!). We started with a longtail boat ride through the mangroves and limestone islands (or karsts) with some pretty cool scenery along the way. We then got transferred into little sea kayaks where a guide manoeuvred us through increasingly low ceilinged sea caves - very scary! Next stop was Koh Phi...

This morning we chatted to our lovely host Manit who has suggested some fun things to do while we're on the island. Apparently fishing is one of the main attractions but I think we'll give this a miss! We caught the local bus into town after brekkie (10 baht instead of 250 in a tuk tuk - bargain!) and scoped out the Sino-Portuguese architecture in the old town. This was pretty good stuff, just a bit of a shame the electrical wiring spoils the majority of the view...

Well, today didn't go quite as planned! Last night, we experienced one of the longest and loudest thunder storms ever. It was seriously the loudest thunder I've ever heard, and there have been some good ones in SEA! We had also asked the girl at our accommodation in Koh Lanta to book us on the 11.00 bus transfer rather than go by boat, which she advised (as the bus is cheaper).
